Water Filtration Project for Drinking Water
The children at the Suan Luang Facility receive a very small allowance (around $6/month after electricity, other costs etc) and from this they had to pay for drinking water as well as personal toiletries and school requirements. The children are quite resourceful but Global Support Association Inc. wishes to help them improve their lives and standards and to help them get a better education. The water from the mountain spring now provides plenty of water but some water still needs to be filtered near the classrooms and where water is not freely available. Without the filtration, children would have to buy drinking water from their allowance.
Rotary Broadbeach provided a Stainless Steel tank and filtration system in 2012 near the classrooms after a visit to the facility. This is still very much in use and extremely popular. Another tank and filtration has since been installed in the boys dining room.
The area of the facility is quite large and the children often have to walk a long way to get their drinking water and are sometimes lazy like most kids and take the risk with the non-potable water - especially at night. Of course this has stomach consequences.
The tanks also often run out as they can't cope with the demand particularly in the hot weather. Water from the reticulated system runs through the filters and fills the drinking water tank.
Global Support Association would therefore like to ensure that we provide for ongoing filters for the existing tanks.
The kids need more funds for the water filters
We need $200 per year to provid for filters
